F-35 Lightning II (Joint Strike Fighter)

This is the F-35 Lightning II (a.k.a., the Joint Strike Fighter). Since joining the Software Engineering Institute six years ago, I've been working on this program helping the DoD Program Office acquire the aircraft, primarily in the area of evaluating the system and software architectures. The is the Department of Defense's largest new program ($300 billion).

Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle (EFV)

For the last few months, I have also been working on the requirements for the Marine Corps' advanced amphibious assault vehicle: the Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle (EFV). Very cool!

Great 2010 Snowstorm

We got dumped on twice.

Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA)

Believe it or not, that's me on the right fighting mace and shield at a demonstration for the Society of Creative Anachronism (SCA). My persona is Wulf Feuerschmied (Wolf Firesmith), a  Swiss mercenary. The "coat of arms" (technically its a device) on my shield actually identifies me by name: Per bend rayonny (the diagonal flames) Or (gold) and gules (red), a wolf salient (standing facing left) sable (black) and an anvil Or (gold). The armor is hot and heavy, and it's tough fighting people who are 30 years or more younger.

My Wife, Becky

My wife, Becky, at Timberline Lodge on Mount Hood in Oregon on our 2009 summer vacation.

My Son, Isaac

My son, Isaac, and me having a meal at the world famous Hofbrauhaus in Munich (Spring 2009). I was very happy to be able to take him to Europe on a trip with me before he left for the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.
