Course Title: Robotics

Course Description: The robotics class will meet once a day during the first semester of the school year. The credit for the class can be used for an elective credit. The student has the option to sign up for the second semester also. The purpose of the class is to introduce and recruit Finney students to the robotics program. The students enrolled in this class will be encouraged to participate on the Finny robotics team when the season officially starts in January. During the preseason students will encouraged to participate in the Ruckus, an event at the Armory grounds in late October. We will be doing an introduction to CAD, computer added drafting, using CREO software. This software is used throughout the engineering industry and is a great way to see how a CAD program works. We will also be working on other projects throughout the year.
The FIRST robotics competition will be held at RIT in March of 2016.
Goals/Course Objectives: Robotics seeks to develop an interest in the students for technology. Topics to be explored include using Computer aided drafting / design software, hands on mechanical experience in building the robot, web page maintenance, applications of math and science, and solving real world problems - all with the goal of developing higher level thinking skills.
.Methods of Instruction: Tutorials online for Creo Parametric, Computers, hand tools and power tools in the shop, 3D printer.
Work Policy: If a student is absent when work is assigned, s/he is given the same amount of time to turn it in. Assessment of Grades: The class will be graded on a Pass / Fail basis.
