The NDHSAA Distinguished Student program was developed to recognize deserving young people who are the “backbone” of interscholastic activities, not necessarily the leader, but the individual whose participation in high school activities strengthens the program for participants, the school and the community. Applicants are students entering their senior year. The student must be a participant as a player, manager, statistician or other role in at least one NDHSAA sponsored activity. Steele Co. Math Counts was held at Hope
on Wed., Feb. 15th. Participants take a 30 question individual test, then answer 8 questions,
given in pairs. Finally, individual competitors come together for a 10 question team test. Steele Co. competitors are then measured up against fellow students in Region 6. The top 2 teams advance and the top 10 competitors advance.

Congratulations to Mrs. Anderson who has been awarded a high school journalism grant from the ND Newspaper Assoc. Ed. Foundation and the Northern Interscholastic Press Assoc. (Finley-Sharon was one of 23 high schools in the states of ND & SD to be awarded this grant.)
Grant monies will be used for textbooks or other resources, a JEA one year membership, and funds for computer software.
Mrs. Anderson will work with students to develop a monthly digital school newspaper for the 2014-15 school year.
