The Jump Rope program is now on its ninth year. Last year we had a tremendous turn out for the Beginning program. By the end of the school year several students had made it on the Criss Crossers Jump Rope Team. I’m hoping this year will even be bigger.
We have three jump rope programs. One is the BEGINNING PROGRAM and the other two is the CRISS CROSSERS JUMP ROPE TEAM 1 and 2. The BEGINNING JUMP ROPE consists of students new to the program or has not pass level 1. The first 25 students that return their permission slip are placed in the morning BEGINNING practices which is held every Thursday from 7:50 AM to 8:50 AM. The last 25 participants that sign up will be added to the Thursday after school practices from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM. This requirement does not pertain to the CRISS CROSSERS JUMP ROPE TEAM 1 and 2.
The first practice for the BEGINNING starts Thursday, October 1, 2015 and ends January 28, 2016. Once I receive their permission slip a letter will be sent home with your child to confirm their practice time. The students that participated in the program last year are also required to fill out another permission form.
The CRISS CROSSERS JUMP ROPE TEAM has two select groups, CRISS CROSSERS TEAM 1 and 2. The CRISS CROSSERS TEAM 1 is student that passed Level 1 but have not pass Level 3. The CRISS CROSSERS TEAM 2 is the student that pass Level 3 and up. The CRISS CROSSERS TEAM 2 will have the opportunity to travel and perform throughout the year for schools that are participating in the "Jump Rope for Heart" event. CRISS CROSSERS TEAM 1 and 2 practices are held Tuesday morning from 7:50 AM – 8:50 AM and Wednesday after school from 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM. Practice for the CRISS CROSSERS TEAM 1 & 2 begins September 29, 2015 and end May 25, 2016. The students who participate in the Jump Rope Program are responsible for their own transportation to and from practices.
The CRISS CROSSERS JUMP ROPE PROGRAM is sponsored by the American Heart Association. We are one of four demonstration teams in the state of Washington. We travel from school to school in Western Washington to perform at the school's Jump Rope For Heart “Kick Off” assembly. Our mission is to promote and motivate students to have a life long healthy lifestyle through physical fitness and a healthy diet.
Whether you participated last year or not all students are subject to a $10.00 fee to join. If your child decides to quit the program for any reason during the year the $10.00 fee is non refundable. This fee is used to repair and/or replace team jump ropes used during practices and also any other jump rope expenses incurred throughout the school year.
Each year the AHA designs a new demo team t-shirt. The American Heart Association jump rope demo t-shirt will be available to purchase on a later date. All students are required to purchase the team t-shirt for the program.
