CLASSROOM COMMUNICATION Communication is very important to me! This is the key to a positive relationship between home and school. We are a team and I am here for you! If you ever have questions or concerns, PLEASE let me know! Here are some ways you can keep in touch with me: Email: Please feel free to email me with any questions, concerns, ideas, or encouragement at jprindiville@fhps.net. I check my email often and this is usually the best and quickest way to get in touch with me. Phone: You can reach me at Ada Vista by phone at 493-8970. Please not that phone calls are not transferred into the classroom during instruction time. Website: Remember to check the third grade team website often for any and all news, notes, and updates! Questions about homework? Check the homework tab on this website (on the left side)! Notes: Feel free to send notes to school with your child, but please let your child know that there is an important note for the teacher in their backpack/folder! It will be your student's responsibility to make sure that the note gets to the teacher. A great place to put any important notes is in their homework folder. BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS I want your child to feel special on their birthday! It is a tradition at Ada Vista to NOT have edible birthday treats. We invite your child to bring in a small item for their friends or a new book/game for our classroom. If your child has a summer birthday and is interested in sharing that day with their friends at school, please contact me so we can set up an alternative day. Please remember, birthday party invitations should NOT be passed out at school. SNACK POLICY Students may choose when to enjoy their snacks during the day. They may choose to consume their snack in the morning, in the afternoon or both, if they wish. In order to keep all students safe in our classroom, I ask that nuts or nut products not be sent into the classroom for snack (they may be enjoyed in the lunch room). This means no trail mix, no peanut butter crackers, no granola bars...NOTHING that might have nut or nut butter in it. We encourage all students to have HEALTHY snacks, so please consider sending fruits, vegetables, dairy products or healthy crackers. Some healthy and safe cracker options are: animal crackers, Cheese Nips, Triscuits, Honey Made graham crackers, Teddy Grahams, Wheat Thins, Cheeze-Its, Wheatables, Goldfish crackers, Rold Gold pretzels and Sun Chips. Prindville's classroom website!! Please know that the majority of the important third grade information will be posted on the Third Grade Team Website. This site will be here mainly for classroom specific information. What's happening in the classroom? Have I mentioned lately that I LOVE our classroom community?! The learning that has happened in our classroom in the last week has been amazing. We have been working so hard on learning behaviors and it really seems that things are starting to come together. I sat back for a moment and watched the students at work this week (so often I am in the middle of it working right alongside the students) and I was so happy to see them hard at work. Discussions were focused on the topic, groups were working well with one another, students were completing tasks and moving on to the next tasks without reminders...it was incredible. They have been working so hard. In writing, we are focusing in on selecting small moments from our lives and writing about them in full detail. As we started our work with this we were selecting wide topics, but through discussions with peers we realized that our stories/moments needed to be narrowed down to something more specific. The students came to this realization on their own without the teacher having to tell them (I love it when this happens!). In math, we finished unit 2 and will be headed into unit 3 this week, which focuses on measurement. Field Trips This week we have our field trip to Charlton Park on Thursday, November 12. We will be out of the classroom pretty much all day. Please remind your student to dress warm! We are outside for most of this trip and in the past it has been COLD (and often times rainy and WET). Keep an eye on the weather and help your student dress appropriately. Also, if you did not sign up to have food services pack your child a lunch (please email me if you are unsure), do not forget to pack your child a lunch that day. We will have soup and crackers with butter (made by students), but it will not be sufficient enough to sustain them all day. Conferences Don't forget that conferences are this week Thursday and next week Tuesday. If you forgot what time you signed up for, feel free to shoot me an email. I am looking forward to meeting with all of you. Please don't forget to fill in this Pre Conference Form! |
