Seventh Grade Math and Seventh Grade Challenge Math

Welcome!  On this page you will find a variety of resources for students and parents.  I will update this page often so please check frequently for information regarding CMS as a whole and my classes in particular.

Schedule for 2017-2018
This school year I will teach 3 Math 7 classes and 2 Challenge Math 7 classes. My prep period  is fourth hour.  I will have two scheduled help sessions per week: Wednesday after school from 2:55 - 3:30 and Thursday before school from 7:10 - 7:40.  Students may drop in during those times without making an appointment.  I am available before or after school on other days by appointment.  Email is also an option for receiving assistance.  My email address is ddunn@fhps.net.

My Teaching Background
I gr
aduated from the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) with a Bachelor of Art in English.  I finished the credits necessary for a math major at Wayne State University,
where I earned a Masters Degree with a concentration in Secondary Math Education.  After teaching middle school math for 14 years in Detroit Public Schools, my family moved to Ada in 2006 where I enjoyed a three year stint as a stay-at-home dad.  I returned to teaching eight years ago. This is my seventh year at CMS where I have taught math, language arts and served as an academic interventionist.

A Bit About Me . . .
Although I miss attending some of the professional sports events in the Detroit area (Tiger's games especially), the west side of the state has been a great place for my wife and I to raise our family.  We have three children. Brendan, our oldest, graduated from FHC two years ago and is attending the University of Michigan.  Ryan is a senior at FHC and Sarah is in seventh grade at CMS. During my free time, I enjoy coaching basketball and watching movies.  In the winter you will find me at FHC Ranger basketball games most Tuesday and Friday nights.
