Seventh Grade Math and Seventh Grade Challenge Math

Welcome!  On this page you will find a variety of resources for students and parents.  I will update this page often so please check frequently for information regarding CMS as a whole and my classes in particular.

Schedule for 2018-2019
This school year I will teach three Math 7 classes and two Challenge Math 7 classes. My prep period is fourth hour.  I am available most days before and after school for additional math support. Please make an appointment with me if you are planning to attend a help session. In addition, students may be requested to attend a lunch or 3B help session if the teacher deems it is necessary.  My email address is ddunn@fhps.net.

My Teaching Background
I gr
aduated from the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) with a Bachelor of Art in English.  I finished the credits necessary for a math major at Wayne State University,
where I earned a Masters Degree with a concentration in Secondary Math Education.  After teaching middle school math for 14 years in Detroit Public Schools, my family moved to Ada in 2006 where I enjoyed a three year stint as a stay-at-home dad.  I returned to teaching nine years ago. This is my eighth year at CMS where I have taught math, language arts and served as an academic interventionist.

A Bit About Me . . .
Although I miss attending some of the professional sports events in the Detroit area (Tiger's games especially), the west side of the state has been a great place for my wife and I to raise our family.  We have three children. Brendan, our oldest, graduated from FHC three years ago and is attending the University of Michigan.  Ryan graduated from FHC last year and is starting his freshman year at Butler University.  Sarah is in eighth grade at CMS. During my free time, I enjoy coaching basketball and watching movies.  In the winter you will find me at FHC Ranger basketball games most Tuesday and Friday nights.
