Mr Mizio Spatafora Andersen

The theoretical research will be aimed at exploring fundamental optical properties of cavity-embedded 2D electron gases in semiconductor quantum wells and graphene with transition in the Terahertz (both intersubband and cyclotron transitions). In particular, non-perturbative quantum field approaches accounting for different interactions will be considered in order to explore exotic phenomena involving photon emission and electron transport. Applications for device operations will also be investigated theoretically. The development of a theory able to predict a rich experimental phenomenology and device applications in this field will be the major expected accomplishment. A particular focus will be on the cavity-dependent quantum electron transport and lasing properties in the ultrastrong coupling regime. Additionally, the study of the coupled dynamics of multiple resonators will also be pursued.
