This S. A.A.C. is formed as an information and discussion council made up of student-athlete representatives from each sport at B.F.A. Our goal is to give our student athletes an opportunity to voice their opinions and develop leadership skills to impact in a positive nature on their individual teams, school campus, and community.
History
The initial Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) began in February 2001. The first Council was comprised of student-athletes representing 29 Varsity teams at BFA. The core group of the SAAC was composed of two representatives from each varsity athletic team at BFA who were nominated by their coaches and teammates.
Purpose
The purpose of the SAAC is to create an environment in which student athletes can express ideas and concerns, develop relationships, leadership skills, and forma a support network for the athletes on the Varsity teams at BFA.
Mission
The mission of the Bellows Free Academy Athletic Advisory Council is to enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunities, protecting student athlete welfare and fostering a positive student image.
More specifically, the SAAC will strive to:
Organize and carry out public relations activities involving BFA and the St. Albans Community.
Inform and encourage BFA and the St. Albans Community to become more aware of issues faced by student-athletes and recognize their accomplishments.
Promote communication between BFA administration, coaches, and student-athletes. Concerns can be voiced and solutions offered regarding any relevant issues.
Provide feedback and insight into athletic department issues.
Build a sense of community within the athletic program involving all athletic teams.
