In the summer of 2011, I was given a unique opportunity by the NSF to participate in the RET-Nano program at Drexel University and University of Pennsylvania. For seven weeks, I and eight other teachers were immersed in the complex world of nanoscience and nanotechnology. We spent mornings discussing methods for incorporating nanoscience into our curriculums and afternoons working on our research projects under the guidance of our amazing professors and graduate student mentors. My RET-Nano experience provided me with the great fortune of working with Dr. Steven May and his research team in the Materials Engineering Department of Drexel University. They were amazing to work with.  This program was an eye-opening and perspective altering experience. It allowed me to enrich my curriculum and expand my students’ science education.
Thank you to the above institutions and organizations for making this program possible.
