4. Reviewing the Effectiveness of All Instruction and Curriculum

Curriculum Committee Review Process

The Faribault Public School District has an established comprehensive curriculum cycle process providing a guaranteed and viable curriculum. The Curriculum Review Cycle is a 7-step cyclical process by which all district curricula is analyzed and designed in a systematic and collaborative manner. The process provides for a comprehensive evaluation of each district program content area, an inclusive development process, a thoughtful and careful implementation, revision based on experience teaching the curriculum, and time for program effectiveness to be realized.

Curriculum Mapping

Our district is currently creating and updating content curriculum maps,Preschool-12. These maps will allow transparency into: content being taught in classrooms, instructional practices focused on the standards and benchmarks in each subject, materials and resources employed during instruction and the assessments used to measure students' mastery of grade level standards.

Teacher Growth and Development Plan

Faribault Public Schools has developed our own teacher evaluation plan based on student growth targets. At the beginning of the year, teachers will set goals for their classes and targeted subgroups to determine proficiency levels and how instruction is impacting learning for their class. Each teacher has a peer reviewer and a summative evaluator. The teachers are evaluated on how many of their students met their SMART goals for the specific time interval.
