About the GED

Computer Based Testing

In January 2014, the GED tests became computer based testing. A paper/pencil version is not available. You must take the tests at an official GED testing center.

Beginning in 2020, you now have the option to take GED tests online from home if you are over 18. You are still required to take and pass a GED practice test and then you will be given to the option to schedule online with Pearson. You must wait at least 24 hours after you create your account for approval for the online testing.

The test will consist of four subject areas:

A minimum score of 145 is required to pass each test.  All four subject areas must be passed in order to earn a GED.
