April 14 and 21, 2014
We're thinking of our 8th grade students in England right now. They've had a whirlwind couple of days in London and are now up in Harrogate. All is going well! Ben Mikaelsen, author of Touching Spirit Bear, a book the 6th grade reads, will be visiting us this week thanks to a very generous $2000 grant by Morong Falmouth! Many of you are celebrating holidays this week and vacationing in the next week! Enjoy yourselves! It's also good to see some evidence of spring!

MIDDLE SCHOOL SPEECH & DEBATE TEAM PRACTICE
First practice—Wednesday, April 16, 6:45 – 8:00 p.m., Room 101 at Falmouth High School. We will be working every Wednesday evening (except vacation week), to get ready for the Maine Middle School Speech & Debate Tournament on May 28, after school at Maranacook Community Schools. Even if you missed the parent/student meeting on April 9, please come. We will spend 15 minutes going over the types of speech or debate you can choose from, and then you will get started on learning the format of debate, and how to write “cases” or pick literature for speech interpretation. Your “coaches” will be high school students from the four-time State Champion Falmouth High School Debate Team. We are user friendly! You don’t need to be able to come to every practice. You don’t need to know anything about speech and debate. For more information, please email the high school coaches, Michelle LaFond at firstname.lastname@example.org or Karen Wolf at email@example.com, or Mr. Stein at firstname.lastname@example.org.
