Falmouth students recognized for outstanding achievement in mathematics!
Congratulations to the Middle School Jazz Band members who received a superior rating at the Maine Music Educators Association District Jazz festival! Soloists were Ellie Sharp, Avery Lara, Nick Ryer, Katie Han, Dylan Leighton, Alex Kinley, Maggie Lamarre, Oscar Brautigam, Jake Leavitt, Cally Seymour, Luke Bodwell, Jessica Troubh, Thomas Hiscock, and Jack Warnock.
Parker Pierson, grade 7 came in first place in The USASA Maine Mountain Series slopestyle event this season. Not only did he come in 1st place, but he was competing in the 13-15 year age group where he was one of the youngest competitors. We are very proud of both his accomplishment and his passion for the sport! He now ranks number 14 in the nation and qualified for the The National Competition that takes place at Copper Mountain in Colorado.

FMS MATHCOUNTS TEAM TAKES SECOND PLACE! The Falmouth Middle School MathCounts team competed in the Western Maine Chapter competition on Saturday at USM. The day long competition included a sprint round. The school team of eighth graders, Clara Geci, Alex Kinley, Alison Noyes and seventh grader Seiya Matsumoto placed second as a team and will continue on to represent Falmouth Middle School at the state MathCounts competition in Fairfield on Saturday, March 8th. Alison and Seiya were in the top 10 scorers for the day and competed in the final countdown round in head to head competition with 45 seconds to solve problems projected on a screen. In addition to the members of the official school team, sixth grader Ben Potter and eighth grader Meghan Cantlin had scores that have qualified them to compete at the state competition as individuals as they were in the top 20 students for the entire meet. Our other mathletes from sixth grade, Angus Christie, Chris Kinley, YuJai Lin and Michael Smoluk also did an excellent job in their first mathcounts competition and are commended for their effort and enthusiasm! The top 4 students at the State competition will move on to the National competition in Orlando, Florida in May.

Science club Meeting dates: Students working on the hover craft will continue their scheduled dates. Students who have finished the dissection or who would like to join us the next dates are April 2 and 23rd.. We will be building solar cars and making dry ice ice cream.. Come and join us!
Civilization Club meets in the NWEA room (upstairs in the 6th grade hall on Tuesdays at 2:30. It is a fun strategy computer game that lets you be a leader as you help create the history of the world. Come have fun while making the decisions that might lead your civilization to glory. Questions- see Mr. Holmes.
PING PONG CLUB meets on Wednesdays through the end of May. We will meet in the small gym at 2:40 and be finished in time for the late bus. All are welcome. Questions? Contact: email@example.com
Morning Intramurals are held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7:15 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. in the small gym and are supervised by PE teacher Maureen McInnis. Volleyball will start on the week of March 3. and mornings at FMS from . All FMS students are welcome to join.
Breakfast Club is in the cafeteria on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 7:30 a.m. A ping pong table is set up and there is always a lively game of round robin ping pong. Breakfast snacks are available daily in the cafeteria as well.
Annual Teacher and Staff Luncheon March 19thLast call for Seed Sale
On March 19th, the PTO will be hosting the Teacher and Staff Luncheon, an event held annually to express our gratitude to all those who provide such a nurturing learning environment for our children. This year's theme will be "Planting the Seeds of Knowledge" -- rolling Springtime, gardening, nurturing and education all into one! We are looking for parents to contribute food items and/or volunteer to set up, serve and clean up for the luncheon. The Falmouth School Gardens ( all schools) is participating in a very simple fundraiser through Fedco. Put the name of our school on the form and 40% of the purchase will return directly to FMS. The proceeds will help us cover the cost of our greenhouse and outside gardens.
All seed orders are due by March 7 - give your form and check to J. Beasley (front office). The check needs to be made out to FHS (they are doing the bookkeeping).

Falmouth Education Foundation Annual Rummage Sale – Saturday, May 10
Mark your calendar for a spring cleaning! Clean out the garage, basement and closets and donate your unwanted items to the annual FEF Rummage Sale being held on Saturday, May 10 from 8am-12pm. Proceeds will benefit children in the Falmouth community. We are looking for gently used furniture, housewares, sporting goods, toys, books and clothing, etc. Please NO ELECTRONICS or any items requiring an outlet for use.
Drop-off your items on Friday, May 9 between 9am and 6pm at the Falmouth Middle School gym.
Rummage Sale Volunteers needed for both May 9th and 10th. Join the team for a couple of hours and meet some new faces at this fun and unique community event with many, many “treasures” to behold! We need volunteers to assist with the collection and sorting of donated items from 9am – 6pm on Friday, May 9th, as well as for organizing, check out and clean-up on Saturday, May 10th from 8am – 12pm.
