2017 PAL Boys Flag Football Championship

Congratulations to the St. Mary’s Mustangs who defeated the Holy Spirit Bears for the 2017 PAL Boys Flag Football Championship by a score of 18-14. It was a well-played game between two previously undefeated teams.

Holy Spirit came in as the Western Division Champion and had amassed a 7-0 record going undefeated in their division and winning their two previous games in the playoffs. The Bears defeated Holy Trinity (first year program!) and the 2016 PAL Boys Flag Football Champion, Our Lady of Assumption in the semi-finals to set up the championship match with St. Mary’s. Holy Spirit was coached by Scott Gordon and assisted by Ray Cordano, Mike Marengo and Amadeo Novella. The Bears finished with a 7-1 record.

The St. Mary’s Mustangs Won the challenging Central Division and advanced through the playoffs by defeating St. Patrick’s and St. Michael’s to enter the championship game undefeated. With the win in the championship game, the Mustangs finished with an 8-0 season!

St. Mary’s is coached by Todd Elorduy, an alumni of St. Mary’s whose 8th grade team won the 1988 PAL Boys Flag Football Championship. Todd coached his son Jake as part of the 2017 team. Todd was assisted by Curtis Rapton, Kevin Brewer and Robby Rose.

A quick thanks to all of the schools (18) who participated in the 2017 PAL Boy’s Flag Football Season!
