This site provides resources and training materials for the Rutgers Safe Practices for Urban Gardening program. This program was originally developed by Rutgers Cooperative Extension, Unity Square, and the New Brunswick Community Garden Coalition.

The purpose of the program is to provide training to urban gardeners to help them adopt best practices for protecting themselves from contaminated garden soil. In addition guidance is provided on soil and irrigation water testing, and food safety practices for schools and community gardens. The training materials are bilingual for use with the Spanish speaking community.
