Mustang Take Home Folders

Students need to bring their Mustang Take Home and Bring Back Folder home every night and bring it back to school each day.  Students will be placing checked assignments and school notices in the pocket marked “Leave Home.”  Homework assignments and papers that need to be signed/reviewed and returned will be placed in the pocket labeled “Bring Back.”  Please check this folder with your child each night!

Homework

Students will have homework to complete Monday through Thursday.  Homework will consist mainly of:

Fundations (daily dictation, and practicing spelling “trick words”)- 

Math (workbook page to reinforce the daily lesson/ practice facts)

Reading Log (read 10 minutes or more during the first trimester)

Poem of the Week (recite poem to build fluency and expression-complete response by Friday).

Please check the Homework Planner and sign the Reading Log each night. 

Snack

Please pack a healthy snack.   We have a working snack at 10:15 AM each morning.  Lunch is late, so a hearty snack is suggested. It is important to have a water bottle each day.  Your child may refill his/her water bottle at the filling stations during the day.  We do not have water fountains.

Birthdays

Birthdays are very special to second graders and will be acknowledged. We will sing to the birthday child and they will get a certificate, sticker, and a bracelet.   If you would like to send something extra to help celebrate, items such as pencils, erasers, tiny notebooks are good choices.   Students are NOT permitted to bring in any edible treats. Summer birthdays will be celebrated in June.

***Please note:  Birthday party invitations are not permitted to be given out in class UNLESS EVERY CHILD in the class is invited to the celebration. ***
