Homework

Homework helps students make the most of their experiences in school. It is useful in reinforcing what has been taught in class, preparing for upcoming lessons, and helping students develop positive work habits. Students are expected to do homework on their own, asking for help only after they have given it their best effort. Please check your child’s homework as a way to monitor their progress.  All homework will be checked by me on a daily basis. If for some reason homework is not completed, a reminder will be provided and the assignment needs to be completed the following day. I know our lives can often become hectic and family matters become a priority. If your child is unable to complete an assignment, please send me a note or email. Your support is greatly appreciated!

Math

Math homework will come home in the Take Home Folder as long there is a need to review the skills discussed in school. The math homework is always due the following day.

Please practice the addition and subtraction facts to 20.  Flashcards will be sent home.

Reading Log

Read 15 minutes every day. Children can read to themselves, read to others, or be read to. Color one picture on the monthly chart each time you read.

Sight Words: Practice reading from the sight words list that will be shared at Parent-Teacher Conferences. These are words we should "see and know" and not sound out.

No homework on Fridays! Enjoy the weekend!

It is important that homework be made a top priority, but not a chore. Please provide your child with the necessary supplies and quiet environment, set a daily homework time, and provide continued praise and support throughout the school year!
