Here is a great extension for Chrome.  I see this as a great tool for my students who need one-on-one assiatance with reading. Since I am in a technology lab with 24 other students, its often not feasible for me to sit and read text aloud for a student.  I'm too busy troubleshooting, finding headphones, or figureing out why a URL didn't work right (they misspelled it).  So, here's a nice and easy solution. I had my thrid greaders install it today, and since its on Chrome, no fancy admin or password was involved.

Its as simple as visiting the Chrome Extension Store and searching "SpeakIt", or just click here.  Now, just Click on "Add to Chrome" and then adjust the sound (if you like) and finally, "Save".  Now, go to any website, highlight the text, right-click, and select the new option there called "SpeakIt".  I know windows has text to speech built in, but I've used it with little success.  This really seems like a great tool so far. I've only been using it for a day, but so far, so good.  Try it out.  If you're skeptical, or just want to see it in action before the install. Watch the video.
