Message from the Principal

Deb Ganderton, Principal

Be the World

This page is under construction.  Please check back in the future to read the Principal's message.“To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.”  This quote personifies what I’ve witnessed on my short time as the new principal of Rose Elementary School.  I could paint a picture of our school by providing an overview of our instructional program, but what I find best illustrates my hopes and aspirations for our school lies in the hands and hearts of this staff, as evidenced by their acts of kindness.

One person anonymously purchased clothes for students who wear the same thing day after day.  Several teachers work before and after school, on their own time, offering tutorial support for students who struggle to work their way through a regular day.  A staff member quickly and quietly organized transportation for children when their mother underwent significant surgery so the parent could focus on healing.   One teacher attends after –school sporting events to cultivate a positive connection with students in her classroom.  Another staff member makes a weekly “appointment” for lunch with a child who was recently placed in foster  care.   This is a positive, predictable event for a child whose world feels unsafe and uncertain.  Kind actions, offered anonymously, each and every day.

Some significant academic challenges lie before us, but  I am confident that we can take on just about anything because we are a staff that couples compassion with action to make a difference in the life of a child.
