District English Learner Multicultural Advisory Committee (DELMAC)

The District English Learner Multicultural Advisory Committee (DELMAC) is intended to provide a forum for sharing information with parents, as well as to allow a regular means for parents to communicate their needs, concerns, and suggestions at the District level. DELMAC Activities are designed to engage families in the processes associated with the education of students who are identified as English language learners. Each California public school district, grades kindergarten through 12, with 51 or more English learners must form a committee to advise the district's local governing board on programs and services for English learners1.
All families are welcome to attend and participate in all DELMAC Activities. District sponsored translators for Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese), Urdu, Arabic, and French will be in attendance at all DELMAC Activities to support participation. DELMAC Meetings:
There are at least four DELMAC meetings each school year. All families are welcome to attend the meetings. In addition, every local school site will elect at least two representatives to attend the District advisory committee meetings. The role of the representatives will be to share any thoughts, ideas, and questions that need to be addressed by the DELMAC. The representatives will also share the information they learned at the DELMAC with their school-site advisory committee meetings.
