This page contains the font install files for Version 2.3 of the Kindle firmware - this is the software update Amazon delivered around the 26th of November, 2009 for the Kindle 2, Kindle 2 international and Kindle DX.
Please note that I only have an original US version of the Kindle 2 so I was unable to test the installation on either the Kindle International version or the Kindle DX. However, users have reported back that these files have been working fine for them on various platforms, so I am optimistic that they will work for you.
That sais, all files are provided without any claims of suitability. I've tried every Kindle 2 (US version) file on my own Kindle without ill effect, but your mileage may vary. If you choose to install these files, you do so at your own risk.
All files have been coded with the Kindle model and firmware version to avoid confusion in the future. They have been sorted into folders below by Kindle version.
Please note: if you have installed another font package before, you must uninstall it with the uninstaller package supplied with those fonts.
The uninstallers are not compatible! Nor can you use the uninstallers
provided below to uninstall other versions of the "font hack."
Many thanks to Andrei Pushkin of Blog Kindle, for his font install scripts. Also, thank you to Jean-Yves Avenard from MobileRead for
his patience with my stupid questions. Finally, thanks to Igor
Skochinsky & Jean-Yves Avenard for developing the Kindle firmware
update tool, without which, none of this would have been possible!!!
note: these font files are NOT unicode, sorry! They won't help those of
you readers looking for non-English character sets. I wish the fonts
had all the other characters, but sadly, they do not.
Good reading! -Ted

The huge and extra large fonts were sized upon special request for readers with visual impairments.
We've had great success using these to bring the joy of reading back to some people who haven't enjoyed reading in years.
