Analysing issues and practices in public consultation on policies and projects impacting regions and the environment

Public consultation is now a key component of the environmental development decision-making process. Because development projects can raise conflicting interests, social and technical controversies, and more generally create mistrust in the population of experts and authorities, this practice is expanding in France and many other countries. In addition, regulations are increasingly requiring project owners to make public consultation an integral part of the decision-making process.

The CONNECT Centre was created to shed light on the benefits and limitations of these consultation measures by conducting cross-disciplinary research based on issues of conflict devised by the Centre’s researchers and their partners.
