IRENE CASES



This Collection of IRENE Negotiation Cases is an innovative tool for teaching negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution. It offers a wide set of teaching tools with a real European and interdisciplinary perspective able to blend together expertise from different fields: private and business sector; international relations; diplomacy, politics and public administration; industrial relations, civil society and NGO. ESSEC IRENE simulations and role-plays are designed by selected academics and practitioners willing to share state-of-the art research and proven best practices. These interactive exercises will help managers, officials, students, etc. get prepared to address the real challenges of a globalized world, whether in their organisation, company, or university, whatever the sector they operate in.

Complex team negotiation between France and a major Asian country, Kandonesia, over the conclusion of an air traffic rights treaty. This role-play simulation is inspired by a real case.


THE REPUBLIC OF TOMIBO

Group negotiations (between Top Group, Middle Group and Bottom Group, each having different levels of control over the total resources and different rules regarding communication between groups) on strategies that can maximize the overall success of the Republic of Tomibo.

Bilateral negotiations over a partnership agreement in the timber industry between the Southern-African Republic and the Northern Union.

Team negotiations over a summit between the Neurotrope Union and a major strategic partner from the Asian region in a post-Lisbon Treaty context.
