Emmanuel VIVET

Emmanuel VIVET is currently Deputy Director for Intl Affairs at Le Groupe La Poste, and an associate research fellow at ESSEC IRÉNÉ. La Poste is the 5th largest postal operator in the world and operates mail (11 bn€), parcel and express deliveries (5 bn€) as well as banking activities (5 bn€) in France and abroad.

Emmanuel has spent his professional life so far in the field of public international negotiations, be them bilateral, multilateral, European or with third countries:

  -     3 years as deputy Chief Negotiator for the French international team, negotiating Air Services Agreements on 50 occasions with 30 non-European countries ;

  -     2 years on the same subject, with the European Commission, as National Expert (open skies air treaties);

  -     2 years at the French permanent representation to the European Union (2007-2009), as Asia counselor. His biggest challenge then was chairing of the working group on EU-Asia relations during the 2008 FR presidency of the Union (coasi group, now an EEAS group);

  -     1 year in research on negotiations with the IRÉNÉ institute.

Emmanuel has been giving training since 2004. He writes simulations, two of them are currently used in European Commission negotiation courses, and publishes articles on European negotiations; he directed and recently published “Négociations d’hier, leçons pour aujourd’hui” (Larcier, 2014), a 27-chapter book on negotiations in European History across centuries. He graduated from ESSEC business school, Sciences Po Paris and the French Civil Servants Ivy League college, ENA.
