“Space: A Musical Frontier” is a journey into the music that has created our sense of sound and imagination in man’s quest for outer space exploration and adventure. The program features great music from some of the most celebrated “space-related” films, such as Star Wars, Star Trek, Superman, and Avatar, as well as the renowned classical music creations, “Uranus,” from Gustav Holst’s “The Planets,” and the Intro-Movement to “Also Sprach Zarathustra” by Richard Strauss, from 2001: A Space Odyssey.

The pre-concert entertainment includes band music, percussion and dance performed by students from the South Bay Music Symposium (SBMS). The Symposium is a two-week intensive music camp created and managed by Edie Rice, Education Director of the South Bay Music Association.

The South Bay Music Symposium, a featured annual education program of the South Bay Music Association, is now in its 9th year. The program has been a source of outstanding music education and performance opportunities for its students, providing direction and teaching methods by acclaimed professional music artists and educators. Since its inception, more than 400 student alumni from communities throughout the Southern California region have participated in this rewarding and inspiring educational program.

Please come and join us for an evening full of fun, good food, and passion for great music!
