Ms. Summers - 10th Grade Bio

Welcome to 10th Grade Biology!

I am so excited to build a strong relationship with each and everyone of you. This will be my third year at Impact Academy teaching biology. I strive to create a healthy and safe classroom environment that develops each student's spiritual, emotional, intelectual, social and physical well being. I will challenge you on a daily basis to ensure you are constantly learning and growing. I build my classroom on the foundation of encouragement, understanding, mutual respect and dignity. I know we will have a great year together!

Educational Background
I graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a major in Kinesiology (go Mustangs). After college I substitute taught for Monterey Peninsula Unified School district and then got accepted into Teach for America which enabled me to be in the position to provide students with an opportunity to achieve the education they deserve. I obtained my teaching credential from Loyola Marymount University. I am currently in Loyola Marymount's Masters program, where I will be earning my Masters in Urban Education with an emphasis on Charter Schools.

Outside of School

I love being with my family and friends as well as health and fitness! I have ran the Big Sur Marathon, I rowed crew in college and ran cross country. I have also participated in multiple triathlons, half marathons and 5k's. During the week, you will find me in the gym at 6:00 am before class and running on trails during the weekend. I have a motto which is "commit 2 fit." I am committed to fitness and I am committed to helping my students grow and reach their full potential as well.
