Edukits & EduSites

Edukits contain cultural items, photographs, books, traditional tools, literacy resources, activities, assessment suggestions and educator's guide, designed for a hands-on minds-on opportunity for staff and students to be engaged in First Nations, Métis, and Inuit education. Sent via truck mail, and at no cost to schools, the Edukits are on loan for one week per classroom. Due to high demand, Edukits are only available to Edmonton Public Schools.  

EduSites are an online collection of lesson activities, recommended literature, links for additional websites and videos.

First Nations, Métis, & Inuit Edusites:
  • Veterans On-line EduSite:  This online EduSite highlights Veterans' contributions and contains suggested lesson activities, recommended literature, website and video links and information on First Nations and Métis soldiers. 
  • Treaty EduSiteThis online EduSite provides introductory information on exploring Treaty Education in the classroom.  
  • amiskwaciy wâskahikan EduSite:  (amisk-wuh-chee waas-kah-heh-gun) This online Edusite examines the Edmonton area’s physical geography, stories, history and culture, and recognizes the historical significance of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit people and places.

 Inuit: aligns with and is intended to enhance the grade 2 Alberta Program of Study.  Click on the kit to see a picture of the contents, click here for a description of the contents of each kit   

Literacy Seed Kit:  aligns with and is intended to enhance the Alberta Programs of Study from grades 1 - 9.  Literacy Seed Kit (76 book collection available to borrow for a four week time period)

Class sets of the following books are available to borrow from First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Education:  Smiler's Bones, fatty legs, stranger at home, and Dreaming in Indian.
