We encourage young-adults to experience servant leadership through community service projects and missions throughout the year (regularly during the school term as well as during winter, spring, and summer breaks), through diocesan opportunities (thelo!, Kansas2Kenya, etc.) and programs coordinated by our local campus ministries (food/feeding programs, etc.), campuses, or other community organizations. Our Missioner and Interns can help you discern what service-oriented mission might be the most constructively challenging for you and then direct you to more information opportunities locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally.
Specifically designed for young-adults in our diocese, thelo! is a week-long, urban-immersion social services mission experience with Episcopal Social Services / Venture House and Breakthrough Club in Wichita, KS. With a small team (appx. 10 young-adults), you engage in charitable social services while learning about urban poverty and non-profit leadership from professionals in the field. In addition to hands-on experience with a variety of community programs, the team also enjoys daily time together in fellowship, worship, and reflection about spiritual formation and discipleship.
In addition to thelo!, here are some of the other service and mission programs in which young adults in our campus ministry programs have recently participated:
