Natalie Sipala
I love being the School Counselor at ESA and look forward to another fun year! Through individual counseling, group counseling, classroom lessons, and parent consultations, I work to meet the social-emotional and academic needs of all students at Envision Science Academy.

I received my Master's of Education in School Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. My Bachelor's Degree is in Human Service Studies from Elon University with a minor in Early Childhood Education. When I am not at school, I enjoy taking walks, cooking, and spending time with my family and friends.

Individual Counseling:
Counseling on an individual level will be short-term and focused on finding solutions to the social-emotional and/or academic concerns that a student, parent, or teacher identifies. Students will work with the counselor on an individual basis to set goals, identify potential solutions, and put those solutions into practice. Please note that I cannot provide therapy or long-term services.
Group Counseling:
Group Counseling is a collaborative process, where students with similar concerns or focus areas work together towards a common goal. A typical group consists of 4 to 6 students and meets once or twice a week for a total of 6 to 8 sessions.

Classroom Lessons:
Counselor lessons are taught in each classroom K-8 about once every three weeks. The lessons teach students skills, behaviors, and attitudes that will make them successful at Envision and beyond. For the 2017-2018 school year, these lessons will follow the Zones of Regulation®  curriculum. The curriculum is based around four colored zones (Blue, Green, Yellow & Red) that each represent a different emotional state. This curriculum helps students to:
  • Identify and understand their own emotions
  • Understand other's emotions and show them empathy
  • Develop effective coping strategies to regulate and manage their emotions
You can download a Zones vocabulary sheet here. You can also visit the Zones of Regulation® website here.
