Assignment Details

1. Find a product you like. Describe why it is innovative and learn about the history of its product development (patents, marketing, etc).

2. Write-up should include figures with a total number of pages being 2-3.

3. Describe the product and its innovative features.

4. What type of product is it e.g., technology push, market pull, latent customer needs, platform products. We will cover this in the first lecture.

5. Research the project and write up what you learn in terms of how the product was developed, how successful it is in the marketplace, and any patent protection. Use literature searching and direct emails and phone calls to companies and inventors.

6. Describe:

a. User need that is being met?

b. Who are the stake holders?

c. Alternative design solutions?

d. How is the product being marketed?

e. Is there patent protection on this product?
