Overview & Objective
Endotracheal intubation is a procedure of placing a flexible tube through the mouth and the trachea of a patient who needs breathing assistance during anesthesia or emergency. Our goal has been to develop a realistic mannequin that medical students and first responders could use for training before treating patients. Our mechanical design is parametrically adjustable so that we can simulate a wide range of patient anatomies. In addition, our mannequin and laryngoscope are fitted with motion and force sensors. We use measurements from experts to create guides training and assessment for trainees.
