About Me

Welcome to 2nd grade! My name is Mrs. Fredricksen and I’m so excited to be your child’s second grade teacher! It’s going to be a fun year full of learning and new adventures!

I have two amazing daughters who are the lights of my life. Marley is 20 and a junior at Illinois State University, and Makenzie is 12 and in seventh grade.

I am thrilled to be starting my fifth year as a second grade teacher at Emmons! I received my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Illinois State University, and my Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Northeastern Illinois University. I have recently obtained my ELL certification from American College of Education. Previously, I taught reading, first, and fourth grades in Aptakisic-Tripp School District 102 in Buffalo Grove. Before coming to Emmons, I took some time off of teaching to stay home with my daughters. During that time, I was a student teaching supervisor, adjunct college professor, and a substitute teacher. While I have enjoyed every position that I’ve held, being a primary classroom teacher is my favorite. There is nothing better than helping a child learn and grow!

I recently read this article, and wanted to share it with you. What Students Remember Most About Teachers

is everything that I believe about teaching and the power of the relationship between a teacher and student. Please take a moment to read it. It is beautiful and right on the money!

I look forward to meeting and working with you! I am certain that second grade is going to be absolutely fantastic!
