03.06: Transition to long-term appointment

If an intern desires to transition to a long­-term appointment, the intern should discuss the possibility with the regional representative (RR).  If there is mutual affirmation for this transition, the RR will send his/her affirmation to the short-term placement coach in Human Resources, who will then make the connection with the personnel placement coach for long-term and the executive assistant for Mission Team. The personnel placement coach for long-term will then engage the intern in the steps necessary to transition to a long-term assignment.   

If the intern will begin the long­-term assignment within four months of completing the internship, the intern may request a budget extension for the purpose of transition. This budget extension may include allowance, travel expenses, student loans, and medical costs.
