Mrs. Dena Gasperino

Welcome to my Speech Home page. I am a ASHA certified Speech Language Pathologist (SLP). SLP's, often called speech therapists,
are educated in the study of human communication, its development, an its disorders. SLPs assess speech, language, cognitive-communication, and oral/feeding/swallowing skills. This lets us identify a problem and the best way to treat it.

Speech therapy in the school setting includes but is not limited to the following:
    1) Teaching students to control their mouth to produce sounds to form words and sentences. Therapy may address articulation, fluency, and voice
     2) Teaching students to understand and express language. Therapy may address the use of language through oral, written, pictorial, sign language, and the use of language through alternative communication systems (computer talking devices, iPads).

Parents are the key to the success of a child's progress in their speech or language program. Children who have the family support resolve the quickest and experience the longest-lasting results when their parents are involved. We are a team and I look forward to assisting your child in communication development!
