SDV 101: Orientation to Future Teachers

Students enrolled in the Teacher Education Specialization Degree program should take SDV 101 if they have not already taken SDV100.  This is a one credit, 8 or 12 week course, which helps students transition to college.  SDV101 has similar content to SDV 100, but is geared to prospective teachers.  SDV 101 will be offered at the Midlothian campus in spring 2014 and at both the Midlothian and Chester campuses in the fall.  Students should take it during their first year at John Tyler; their first semester if possible.  A sample syllabus is attached below.  Also attached is Dr. Melody Moore's Teacher Preparation Exercise in which SDV 101 students get acquainted with the VA Dept. of Education website and the requirements for Teacher Licensure.
