The Future Teachers Club at John Tyler is open to all students interested in the teaching profession. The club provides opportunities for members to network and share information on careers, certification and transfer; learn from guest speakers; volunteer for education-related community service projects; and obtain advising information about EDU 200 and Praxis I.
All interested students are invited to attend the Future Teachers Club meetings!
Spring 2016 meetings:
Monday, Jan. 25 from 1:00-1:45 pm
Monday, Feb. 22 from 2:00-2:45 pm
Monday, March 14 from 1:00-1:45 pm
The final Future Teachers Club meeting of the semester will be the:
Teacher Education Information Meeting
Tuesday, April 19th
Midlothian campus, Hamel Hall, room 109
Representatives from JMU, Longwood, Mary Baldwin College, ODU, University of Mary Washington, University of Richmond, VCU, and VSU will be at the meeting to talk about their programs and to answer student questions. This is an excellent opportunity to get all of your transfer questions answered.
We are also looking for volunteers to help with the Sun Visor Activity in the Art of Learning Tent at Fool for Art, on Saturday, April 16th from 9-4:00 at the Midlothian campus. The children LOVE the sun visor activity and student volunteers always have a wonderful time! If you're interested in helping, please contact Penny Speidel or John Kirn below. We need to know a two hour shift that you can work as well as your t-shirt size. You'll also get a coupon for a free lunch from one of the vendors. This is a fun spring festival for the entire community! Don't miss it!
