Informations and Needed Actions

Attention All Students, Faculty and Staff:

There are changes coming to your Gmail and Google Applications. These changes will affect you and there are some actions you must take to ensure your continued access to Gmail and the Google Applications. Please read below:

CHANGES TO GMAIL AND GOOGLE APPLICATIONS

On the evening of May 17th, all WCC Gmail accounts will be changed to include access to additional Google Applications.  The entire Virginia Community College System utilizes Google for student e-mail, and through this student Gmail account, you have had access to Calendar, Contacts, Drive, Gmail, Sites, and Talk. We are excited to announce that the following list of Google services or apps will be made available (linked) to your student account very soon:

·         3D Warehouse

·         Analytics

·         Blogger

·         Bookmarks

·         Books

·         Chrome Sync

·         Code

·         Custom Search

·         Feedburner

·         Google Play Android Developer Console

·         Google+

·         Groups

·         Map Maker

·         Maps

·         News

·         Picasa

·         Public Data

·         Translator Toolkit

·         Webmaster Tools

·         YouTube

·         YouTube CMS

ACTIONS YOU MUST TAKE

  • Agree to the new “Terms of Service”
  • Accurately report your age for Google+ and other Google Applications

Once these additional tools are turned on,  you will be presented with a "Terms of Service Agreement" the next time you access your student Gmail account.  After you click "I accept,  continue to my account.", your email account will open as it normally does.

Make note that this change will occur on the evening of Friday, May 17th, 2013. After the 17th, you will access these new tools through the 'More' menu that you will find at the top of your Gmail account.

VERY IMPORTANT!

Please also note that if you set up a profile in Google Plus (G+), YouTube, or any other Google application that has age restrictions, it is especially important that you meet the age requirement (13 years) and include a correct date of birth that identifies you as 13 years or older. If you include a date of birth indicating you are younger than 13, you will be permanently locked out of ALL Google services. This cannot be undone without significant effort and additional costs.

Thank you for your cooperation.
