Respite Program

FASD Respite Program

  • This program supports children (ages 3-8) with a diagnosis or query of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD).
  • The intent of this program is to increase family capacity and decrease stress through therapeutic recreational based intervention and family supports.
  • The program is operated through a cooperative partnership with the Elves Special Needs Society, Kids Kottage Foundation and the Edmonton Fetal Alcohol Network (EFAN).
  • Referrals from community agencies.
  • Saturday 11am to 5pm

Elves Summer Respite Program

  • The Elves Special Needs Society offers a recreation-based summer program to Elves students during the month of July. 
  • This is a three or four week program that is funded through Family Supports to Children with Disabilities (FSCD), donations and parental contributions.

Description of the FASD Respite Programs

Elves Special Needs Society offers support to families and children with FASD.

Elves Special Needs Society provides a safe, facility-based and structured program for children.  Behavioural, social and daily living skills development are promoted through the program.

Parent Support Group

The Parent Support Group focuses on providing parents/caregivers with opportunities to gain information related to strengths and needs of individuals with an FASD diagnoses or query. Behavioural strategies, community partners and social activities in the community are introduced to families and caregivers.
  • Families are supported in the challenges and stress associated with raising children with FASD.
  • Families are encouraged to participate in all workshops many social events to receive the maximum benefits of the program.
  • Families are offered practical information about community resources and social connections to better support their children.
