Volunteers are crucial to the mission of the Southeastern Synod. Some volunteers have agreed to be responsible for specific ongoing projects. Others volunteer for whatever the needs are at the times they are available.
This page lists some of the needs for volunteers and provides a way for potential volunteers to be in touch with those who can use their assistance. Current needs include:
Office Greeters in the Synod Office
Volunteer greeters answer and route phone calls and welcome visitors to the synod office. Lay persons, clergy, and retired clergy have all been volunteer greeters in the past. Greeters may also perform additional office-related tasks, depending on their interests and skills.
Additional Details: The Synod office is located at 100 Edgewood Ave. NE, in downtown Atlanta, near Georgia State University. Parking is available in a covered garage next to the office building; parking expenses for volunteers are paid by the synod. Greeters are scheduled to work a minimum of 4 hours a week, during the hours of 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. Every effort is made to be flexible in scheduling to accommodate the availability of individual volunteers. To avoid scheduling conflicts, work should be arranged in advance with the synod office manager.

Volunteer reporters are needed throughout the synod to submit short original articles for electronic publication in the synod's E-News. Articles about congregational and conference activities for the "Around the Synod" section of the E-News are especially useful.
Additional Details: There is no limit to the number of articles that a reporter may submit, although space limitations in the E-News may prevent some submissions from being used. It is expected that most reporters will submit an article at least once a month. The submission of digital pictures with articles is also encouraged.

Synod Committee or Task Force Member
Many of the ongoing synod ministries are planned and implemented by synod committees and task forces. Groups that are currently seeking additional members are listed on the synod’s Committees and Task Forces webpage, where there is also an online form to volunteer to join one of these groups.
