The role of Conferences in the synod is outlined in Chapter 12 of the synod constitution. Conferences are the principal means through which inter-congregational worship, education, and ministry are provided. Conferences are encouraged to have at least one event per year that incorporates education and worship for its member congregations. Assistant to the Bishop: Each congregation is assigned an Assistant to the Bishop, available for consultation regarding congregational, synodical or ELCA Churchwide matters. Contact information for the Assistants to the Bishop may be found on the Staff page.
Deans: Synod deans serve as the communication link, provide pastoral care and consultation to congregations, pastors, associates in ministry, and their families; and at the bishop's request, represent the bishop and this synod at churchwide, synodical, conference, cluster, coalition, and congregational worship services and other special events.
