The client wanted to create a home for herself, her young son and her mother. The house had to be modern, affordable and environmentally friendly. As there is a cluster of indigenous trees on the north-east corner of the stand, which she wanted to keep and enjoy, the house was laid out in an elongated shape in the south-west corner of the stand. All rooms face north to reduce heating costs in the winter. Between the main house and the granny flat is a communal work room/study that acts as a meeting place for the three generations sharing the house. |
