Welcome to the Red Mill Elementary School Health Office Website. Healthy children learn better and together we can work to ensure that goal.

Please stress proper handwashing with your children. Did you know that 80% of common infections are spread directly by touching?

The children go out for recess every day, weather permitting, so please remember to send in sneakers and socks for playground safety.

Many parents ask, "When is my child sick enough to stay home from school?"

A child who is sick will not be able to learn and is likely to spread the illness to other children and staff. We suggest making a plan for childcare ahead of time so your child has a safe and comfortable place to go when they are sick.

Here are some tips for when you should not send your child to school:

Fever in the past 24 hours

Vomiting in the past 24 hours

Diarrhea in the past 24 hours

Sore Throat or Strep Throat ( must have been taking an antibiotic for at least 24 hours before returning to school)

Bad cold with very runny nose or bad cough

Head lice (until treated and cleared by health office)

Have a happy, healthy school year!
