This online course is intended to support you to improve your skills in order to allow you to make better use of the web over the coming year. In order to complete the course you must complete all of the tasks detailed  however you can choose which order you would like to complete them in. If you are having any difficulties you should use the course discussion group to get support. 
 
By the end of this course you will have created a personalised website for your S5 year to make sure that you are using the web in the best way possible for your learning.
The learning objectives of the course are...
  • to ensure that you are familiar with some of the online learning tools that are available to you to allow you to make an informed decision regarding whether or not to use them.
  • to create a website based around your different subjects next year so that you are using the web efficiently for each subject.
To achieve these objectives you need to follow the sequence of steps below to begin with and then follow the sequences of steps on each of the tasks pages.

How do I get started? 
 
Before making a start on the tasks, you must do the following two things first:

A. You need to create your personalised website: When you complete a task, you must consider that tools use in terms of your subjects and add this information to your website pages. You need to share your website with the course tutor to ensure that they can see your progress. To do this follow these steps:
  1. Go to http://sites.edubuzz.org
  2. Click 'Create'
  3. Under 'Select a template to use' click 'Browse the gallery for more'
  4. Under 'edubuzz.org' select the template 'Using the Web for Learning ePortfolio'
  5. Click 'Select'
  6. Under 'Name your site' enter "weblearn" followed by your name
  7. Choose a theme
  8. Click 'Create'
  9. Click 'Share'
  10. Scroll down to the 'Add people' box. Type fkelly@edubuzz.org then click 'Share & save'
  11. Click the pencil symbol to edit the front page to introduce yourself - remember to click 'Save'
  12. Delete any subject sites that are not relevant to you.
B. You need to join the Course Google Group: In order to join in with the discussion forum you need to join the course group. You can do this by following the steps below:
  1. Go to https://groups.google.com/a/edubuzz.org/group/using-the-web-for-learning/
  2. Click on 'Join this group'
  3. Edit your settings then click on 'Join this group'
  4. You can close that window/tab once you've joined the group.
