the need for food

why do we need food?

all living things need food for growth and as a source of energy. There are two ways in which organisms obtain their food :

  • plants make their own food by photosynthesis
  • animals rely on ready made food, by eating other organisms or plants.

 CHEMICAL  FUNCTION

proteins needed for growth and repair
fats store energy, insulation, and make cell membranes
