Due June 8 --> Senior Project!

posted May 23, 2017, 8:00 AM by Michelle Ruth Frindell

On the Threshold:  Senior Project 2017

It’s time.  Your chance to have your say about what’s important to you, about who you are and what you’ve learned.

Here are your choices:

·        TEDx-type Talk (5-8 minutes; live):

o   A talk about an idea you have that is supported by concrete evidence and is relevant to a broad audience

·        It Gets Better Project-type Video (3-5 minutes):

o   A video talk directed to a group of younger people that offers hope and support based on your experiences of struggle (LGBTQIA, race, depression, etc.).  See examples at http://www.itgetsbetter.org/

·        What I’ve Learned in the Last Four Years (3-5 minutes; live or video):

o   Graduation speech:  if you could speak to your peers at graduation, what would you say?  What do you wish your graduation speakers would say to you?  See http://apps.npr.org/commencement/

o   “This I Believe”-type speech:  a story that helps explain a core value or belief that shapes your life.  Avoid statements of religious dogma, preaching, or editorializing.  See examples on http://thisibelieve.org/guidelines/

o   Video

    Examples:  Bailey, Kevin, Kamelia

                        Jacob

                        Lauren

Presentations will be shown/performed starting June 8.

You may work with up to 2 other people, but each person will need to turn in a 1-page typed sheet detailing exactly what you did for the group and how much time you spent on your own work.  (Note:  your contribution must be in the creation—the scripting, or performing—not just video editing or other behind-the-scenes work).

Formats:

·        Video (on flashdrive, YouTube, vimeo, or other platform)

·        PowerPoint/Keynote/Flash slide show

·        Animated film
