Below is a rough guideline for what we will be doing in class this week.  Students are responsible for obtaining the potential homework assignments beforehand if the absence is planned.  If the absence is not planned, students are responsible for obtaining the homework upon return. 

7th Grade

Course Syllabus

7th Grade - World History

We will be studying world history from ancient times to the modern world.  The class will be broken down into regions of study.  Emphasis is placed on Europe, Africa, South America and Asia.  At the same time we will be intertwining the role of the United States in certain events.  Geography, politics and economic systems are also studied.  Along with history, a focus will be placed on mapwork, climate and occupations.  Worksheets, notes, groupwork and small projects are the main methods of instruction.  Assessment methods are homework, quizzes and tests.

8th Grade - U.S. History

We will be studying U.S. History from precolonization to the Civil War.  Key events that will be highlighted include: American Revolution, War of 1812, Independence of Texas, Manifest Destiny and the Civil War.  A focus is placed on the role of the United States from its rebellious early years to becoming a world power.  Also being studied will be key documents such as the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation and the Constitution.  Worksheets, notes, groupwork and small projects are the main methods of instruction.  Assessment methods are homework, quizzes and tests.
