Welcome to my CAS portfolio.  My name is Clevance Emmanuel Mbilinyi. Aged 19 now (as per March, 2016). Please enjoy yourself while scrolling through different CAS experience over the two years of the IB diploma at International School of Moshi.
In here you will find the reflections about my CAS (Creative, Action and Sport). To me CAS activities are more than the activities you can just go and finish the hours that the IBO has granted to you; they are activities that rejoin me with my friends and I actually learn something from it.
                                                Yeah!!! thats me.
150 hours of CAS are not few hours to a person who knows how to procrastinate and are not many hours either to a committed person like I am. International School of Moshi(ISM) is still a new school to me as I have been here for only 5 months now. I am grateful that I like the school already and I am getting along with the people here. CAS activities is something new to me, since in my old school extracurricular activities did not count at all. I am lucky that it did not take me a long time to adopt this new life style, indeed I like participating in CAS activities.

Over a period of over one year and six months CAS activities have been a daily routine and part of my regular academic requirements that needs to be accomplished. Thinking about this on August of 2014, I was so nervous about the whole process, and was intimidated by the time requirement that was supposed to be fulfilled. One hundred and fifty hours seemed like a million years away considering the fact that I covered about 4 hours a week. Nonetheless, everything changed when I got used to these extra-curricular activities. I started thinking of CAS activities as an opportunity of refreshing my mind rather than an assignment that needed to be accomplished.

My CAS activities experience over the past one year and a half has simply been wonderful. CAS activities have generally helped me to have a better understanding of my abilities and potentials. CAS has increased and highlight my awareness of the strength I hold, and hence enabling me to see myself as an individual with various skills and abilities that portray good leadership and teamwork attributes that I have developed over a period on one year and six months. Through my CAS involvement, I was able to initiate my own CAS activity namely College prep club, where my friends and I helped to introduce juniors to the experience of preparing towards college applications. This is because we had some insights of the process, and saw and opportunity of sharing the experience with juniors who would soon go through the same processes. Through this CAS activity, I was able to develop organizational skills – as we had to prepare different lesson plans every week, leadership skills – as I was coordinating and allocating different roles to my fellow initiators, and teamwork skills because more than anything we had to work as a team in order to ensure that everything goes as planned.

First quarter & second quarter
First quarter started from 11th August, all the way to mid October and second quarter started from mid October to mid December. These first six months of school weren't as easy as anyone would have thought them to be. It was the first time of my high school life - in a new school, which is an IB school. I guess now we are on the same page when I tell you it wasn't an easy moment of my school life. With everything being new to me, the only thing that could relieve me of all the stresses was the CAS activities. Creative, Action and Service- they are among the mandatory requirements for an IB full diploma program student. Not that everyone would agree with me, CAS activities are necessary activities for every student, and I promise you I would take them even if they weren't mandatory.
For the first quarter of D1 I proudly participated in the following activities:
  1. Creative:- Model United Nations (MUN)
  2. Action:- Football, Volleyball
  3. Service:- Teaching computer to children from a nearby local school, Make a difference (MAD) tutors.
