New Frontiers in the Humanities

With the generous support of an Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Grant, Eckerd College Humanities has launched an exciting initiative to reinvigorate student interest in the Humanities through undergraduate research, collaborative projects, team teaching, and community-building projects. The New Frontiers in the Humanities will broaden the reach of the Humanities on the campus and help to make Eckerd College a leader in undergraduate research.

This year, we are hosting the Fifth Annual Humanities Symposium on Friday, April 6, 2018 from 12:00-4:00 PM in the Cobb Gallery. For more information, please visit the Humanities Symposium Page.

The Humanities Symposium is part of a week celebrating undergraduate research here at Eckerd College and includes the Science Symposium on Wednesday, April 4 from 1:30-3:00 and the Film Festival on Friday, April 6.

News Brief on the 2016 Humanities Symposium

"It was both terrifying and exhilarating to present academic work in front of an academic audience of this sort for the first time as a freshman. I'm incredibly grateful for the rewarding experience and the opportunity to learn about the cool topics other students are studying."

--Madeline Streilein '17, Best in Show Award Winner, 2015 Humanities Symposium

"The humanities symposium was an opportunity for me to showcase work I had been preparing for a while. It was helpful to adapt my research for a public setting and get feedback on my work. Overall, it was a marvelous experience!"
