Welcome to Mr. Raab's Music Page!
Music class at East Hanover Middle School is a place where all children feel welcome, accepted, and loved ... and every child has the chance to succeed regardless of their background or experience. (And every student is able to leave Middle School Music knowing that they wrote a piece of music for the piano that actually sounds good!)
A brief synopsis of what happens at each grade level can be found just to your right. There are great times ahead in music class ... stay tuned for updates!

6th Grade Music
Students will be working on research papers about various Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees that they have picked as a topic. The papers will also be presented to the class in conjunction with a Google Slides presentation. There is no homework in music...unless the student hasn't used the time in class to do the work and has to finish it at home. Please email me with any part of the grading process that you don't understand or is of concern to you!
7th & 8th Grade Music
Students will be working on two compositions in class, one short and one long. They'll be using Noteflight notational software, which they are able to access from home as well since it is internet-based. Each student has an account in Noteflight, which is active for the duration of the school year. Students that finish early will be able to transfer their notated work to Bandlab and orchestrate their music, adding various instruments, vocal parts, and even sound effects and effect loops. There is literally no limit to what a student's creativity can accomplish in this class. There is no homework in music...unless the student hasn't used the time in class to do the work and has to finish it at home. Please email me with any part of the grading process that you don't understand or is of concern to you!
Junior Choir, Senior Choir, and Select Choir
Our choral groups are working hard to prepare for their two concerts this year. The Winter Concert will take place on December 13th, and the Spring Concert will take place on May 8th. Please keep an eye out for our two fundraisers this fall: Our chorus-themed clothing fundraiser in September/October, and our cookie dough and Cinnabon bite fundraiser (as well as lots of other stuff!) in November...and please help our program and help us to put on an amazing spring concert by purchasing a few items if you can. Thanks!
