Welcome

Makerspaces Defined

A Dysart makerspace is an invitation for students and teachers to transform knowledge and ideas into reality through powerful, effective, and engaging learning experiences. Successful makerspaces will:

  • promote learning through innovation, experimentation and engineering.

  • be cross-disciplinary, with elements of art, science and craftsmanship.

  • offer tools and materials that encourage students to create rather than consume.

  • foster an environment for collaboration.

“Makerspaces are just a metaphor for allowing students to have the opportunity to engage in open-ended exploration. It’s about creating a unique learning environment and doing what’s best for kids.”         - Laura Fleming
