Fallon 7th grade Core team invited me in to a lunch session to discuss grammar and the role it plays in the classroom.  It was a fascinating discussion, one that we plan to continue.

Chunking and Summary Writing

On October 9th, Holly Cunningham (DHS English) and I delivered a staff development workshop on critical reading and writing in the non-English classroom.  We focused on the strategies of chunking the text with the object to create an objective academic summary.  Here is the presentation we delivered.  (PDF of handouts to follow shortly).

Developing a Literacy Action Plan

I have put together a Pinterest board with the best web resources I have come across on the topic of designing a literacy action plan.  While these resources are from different states and represent communities with different needs, surprisingly, many of these resources focus on taking similar measures in order to implement a successful literacy plan.  Click here to view the resources.
